Negros Occidental PEMO kicks off environmental week

The Negros Occidental Provincial Environment Management Office (PEMO) kicked off 2017 Environment Week with a ceremony at the Negros Occidental Multi-Purpose Activity Center, yesterday.
PEMO head, Atty. Wilfred Ramon Peñalosa, encouraged those gathered to protect the environment and thanked those who advocate for conservation.
Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Negros Island Region (DENR-NIR) administrative division chief Emi Balenario also spoke, saying environmental problems, particularly on climate change, can be solved by moving ahead.
Among the activities during the week include Youth Environment Day at the Colegio San Agustin Bacolod auditorium on June 20, a tree growing activity in La Carlota City on June 21, a renewable energy forum at the Capitol Social Hall on June 22, a province-wide clean-up event on June 22, and the awarding of the Seal of Good Environmental Governance at the SMX Convention Center on June 23./WDJ
