During Sunday’s commemoration of the 79th anniversary of the signing of the Bacolod City charter at the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC), Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia awarded 10 special citations for individuals and entities that have contributed to the city.
The Negros Occidental Garden Club was recognized for their commitment to the promotion of “garden floriculture and community beautification,” including the landscaping and enhancement of the BCGC atrium; while the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Negros Island Region (DENR-NIR) was also recognized for their environmental contributions, in particular, their five-year plan to plant one million trees throughout the city.
SM Prime Holdings, Inc., the Ayala Land Corporation, the Megaworld Corporation, CityMall, and the Robinsons Land Corporation were recognized for their contributions towards the growth of the city through their various development projects.
The Negros Karbarkada Painters’ Association, Inc. (Nekapa) was recognized for donating materials for the repainting of the BCGC façade and lobby, while Ceres-Negros FC was named for their contribution in promoting and developing sports.
Radio host Jose Enriquez, Jr., also known as DJ Richard Enriquez, was also awarded for his dedication to the radio industry./WDJ
