After hosting the 1st Gov. Alfredo Marañon, Jr. Inter-Hacienda Softball Tournament at the Lourdes Ballpark, former Manapla Mayor Manolet Escalante said the municipality is considering an open softball tournament, which would be similar to a commercial league.
He added, an inter-farmers softball competition is also being discussed.
“We want to give our farmers some moments to relax and enjoy after a long week of field work,” said Escalante.
Current Manapla Mayor Lourdes Escalante said similar tournaments would keep kids engaged and prevent them from getting involved with illegal drugs or other vices.
Meanwhile, the recently-crowned 2017 Asia Pacific Softball Tournament champion Philippine teams, both senior and little league divisions, are expected to arrive in the province today and pay a courtesy visit on Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon, Jr./WDJ
