The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) recently launched its first Knowledge Resource Collection (KRC) at the Bacolod City Library.
In a speech by BSP-Negros Occidental Manager Job Nepomuceno, he said the KRC aims to establish a facility for information and knowledge sharing, which he called “one of the key elements supporting the National Strategy for Financial Inclusion (NSFI).”
NSFI works to reduce poverty and create jobs.
He added, the KRC makes information about the BSP readily available to the public.
“We have provided the library with various BSP information materials featuring topics on the role of BSP in the economy; financial consumer protection; identification of the security features of the Philippine peso; a weekly wealth watch book; selected economic and financial indicators; and copies of the Central Banker, BSP’s official magazine,” the local BSP officer explained. “We hope, through this collaboration, we can provide the general public with viable and vital information on economic and financial matters.”
“Together, we can promote a greater public understanding of essential economic and financial concepts and issues and a wide reach of financial learning,” he added.
Nepomuceno also pointed out, the BSP website can also be accessed through the library, where users can access online publications; along with journal articles and references on economics, banking, finance, investment, and other related subjects.
Also present at the launching were executive assistant to the mayor, Moises de la Cruz, and City Librarian Greta Memoria./WDJ
