The Police Regional Office-18 (PRO-18), yesterday, cautioned residents of the Negros Island Region (NIR) planning to travel to Mindanao that a gun ban has been imposed on the island as it is still under Martial Law.
PRO-18 Spokesperson Police Senior Insp. Armilyn Vargas said all Permits to Carry Firearms Outside of Residence have been suspended in the entire island of Mindanao. She added the gun ban will be in place until Martial Law is lifted.
Vargas noted only members of the Philippine National Police (PNP), Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), and other law enforcement agencies are allowed to carry firearms but only during official duty.
Earlier last month, President Rodrigo R. Duterte declared Martial Law in Mindanao after the Islamic State-backed Maute terror group attempted to takeover Marawi City./WDJ
