La Castellana Mayor Rhumyla Nicor-Manguilimotan yesterday said she is considering an P80 million loan for a solid waste management project.
Manguilimotan, who met with Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon, Jr. at the Provincial Capitol, said part of the loan will be used to acquire heavy equipment, such as a loader, garbage compactor and dump truck, which will all undergo the required bidding procedure.
The mayor stressed garbage disposal has been a problem in her town and she wants to address it as soon as possible.
The municipal government will also be extending P100,000 for big barangays.
“Part of the solution is to utilize the help of the barangays,” she said.
The mayor said she would also seek authority from the town council to contract the loan, which will be sourced from the Municipal Development Fund Office of the Department of Finance./WDJ
