It is unfathomable how our government is so fond of exposing their battle scenarios in Marawi City. They tolerate the media announcing accomplishments against rebels in Mindanao and, in doing so, they also reveal the location of evacuation centers and combat plans.
As these scenarios are broadcast on television or radio, the rebels are watching the military’s movement.
“Anything revealed by the government gives it a minus point,” said a Cotabato Muslim, who is seasoned in warfare.
There is also no benefit to the military holding press conference – it is always a negative and only provides updates for the rebels.
“Just fight and win,” the son of a Muslim Datu told me.
Security concerns in other parts of the country must also not be taken for granted. Police officers should not be relaxing in their stations; they need to be on the road – always. They were not trained as office personnel and we should not wait for something to happen.
Toured Misamis Occidental last March, where I visited Oroquieta City, Ozamiz City, Iligan City, and Cagayan de Oro City; however, we were unable to visit Marawi City after the tour guide refused my request to take pictures of Mindanao State University.
Sad to see how negatively affected the province is because of the rebel invasion.

Thousands of motorcycles remain unregistered with the Land Transportation Office (LTO), however, this situation is not the responsibility of LTO-Bacolod head Renato Novero; it is the dealers who need to register them outright. Dealers claim new registrations take time because they are generated by the LTO regional office in Iloilo. If that is the case, hopefully, the LTO-Bacolod can begin processing registrations and have all motor vehicles registered within the day.
