Following their narrow 4-3 win over Tajikistan in the ongoing AFC Asian Cup qualification round, Philippine national football team, the Azkals, coach Tom Dooley said the team needs more training.
“I would like to have the team a longer period of time, the teams in the league need to know the training is not enough to compete in the high level of football,” he explained. “Maybe it is good enough to play in the league here but not internationally.”
Azkals team manager Dan Palami echoed the sentiment, saying, the team needs more time together.
“Maturity, as a team, takes time and it’s something we don’t have much of these days,” he said.
The victory put the Philippines in the sole lead of Group F, following a 0-0 draw between Nepal and Yemen.
