A mountaineer group called the Porsigue Trekkers organized a school supply drive last week for the Maria Palacios Presbitero Elementary School in Barangay Lacaron, Valladolid, Negros Occidental.
“There are some children in remote parts of Negros where supplies as simple as a pencil or a piece of paper cannot be taken for granted,” said founding member Ogie Lou Siriban. “These kids have very limited access to basic school supplies, and this is why this activity was planned and executed.”
The program opened with a prayer and an introduction from School Principal Erlinda G. Tome. The distribution commenced, with each student receiving pencils with eraser tips, a pen, a pencil sharpener, notebooks, a writing pad, a box of crayons, and a ruler./WDJ
