According to Negros Occidental Provincial Board Member Salvador Escalante, Jr., the Provincial Development Council (PDC) recently approved a loan application on behalf of 25 Negros Occidental local government units (LGUs) from the Municipal Development Fund Office (MDFO) worth P1.406 billion.
P609 million will be devoted to farm-to-market roads, while another P318 million will go towards the construction of public markets. Other proposals include breakwater and dredging projects, construction projects, among others.
The Provincial Capitol will also avail of the loan for the construction of a multi-purpose building, information and communication technology projects, and the purchase of heavy equipment.
Escalante pointed out, it will be the provincial government who will acquire the funding intended for projects among LGUs.
Meanwhile, in a resolution released by the PDC, the projects the loan will be funding are among the priorities of the provincial government’s Executive Legislative Agenda for 2017-2019 and 2017 Annual Investment Program.
