Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia recently welcomed the opening of a new P39 million Education and Training Center School (ETCS) building in Barangay 16, noting the building was previously ready for occupancy.
“Why it has remained unused when we have a serious classroom shortage in the city is beyond me,” he said in a statement.
According to Department of Education-Bacolod (DepEd-Bacolod) Schools Division Superintendent Cynthia Demavivas, as of Monday, a total of 1,138 students, mostly Grades 2, 3, and 4 pupils from 33 ETCS I, II, and III sections, have been transferred to the new building.
Demavivas noted, while the three ETCS schools have been decongested, the department is still planning construction of an additional classroom building./WDJ
