Following the declaration of Martial Law in Mindanao, the Philippine national sepak takraw team moved their training to Iloilo City.
According to city sports development officer Rommel Castro, the team arrived yesterday and will be in training until August 7.
The team is preparing for this year’s Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) in Malaysia.
Castro said the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) decided to pull the team out of Mindanao as several members are currently enlisted in the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
Meanwhile, the city government of Iloilo is providing free accommodations for the national team, which consists of 12 men, eight women, and eight coaches./WDJ
