The Bacolod City government allocated P2 million in preparation for the upcoming 119th Independence Day celebration, scheduled for June 12.
According to the schedule issued by the Public Information Office, morning rites will feature an inter-faith prayer and flag raising ceremony at the Bacolod Public Plaza, followed by a wreath-laying ceremony at the monument of the unknown soldier.
A parade is also scheduled in the afternoon, which will include various schools, military reservists, and members of the city government.
According to Executive Assistant Celestino Guara, the parade will start in front of Negros Occidental High School (NOHS) and will head towards the downtown area, along Araneta Street and will circle the plaza.
The Independence Day celebration will also culminate with a concert at the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC) grounds at 7 p.m.
Aside from the festivities, the P2 million allocation also includes the commemoration of the 79th anniversary of the signing of Bacolod City’s charter./WDJ
