Bacolod City responded to the call by Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon, Jr., to assist the residents of Marawi City, who are currently affected by the ongoing conflict between government forces and the Maute terror group.
In a report by Bombo Radyo-Bacolod yesterday, Bacolod City Administrator John Orola said they will begin accepting donations of Halal food items, drinking water, toiletries, medical kits, and blankets.
Orola added, they will only accept goods and not cash donations.
He also designated the City Tourism Office (CTO), inside the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC), and the General Services Office (GSO) at the old City Hall as drop-off points for the relief supplies.
Earlier, Marañon called on Negrenses to assist in the relief effort for Marawi City.
Aside from the relief supplies, the provincial government will also provide financial assistance to Marawi City, although he did not specify the amount./WDJ
