DPWH, DepEd to provide P3.5B for Western Visayas schools

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and the Department of Education (DepEd), through their Basic Education Facilities Fund, will be providing P3.59 billion to fund for the construction and repair of public schools in the Western Visayas region for the 2017-2018 academic year.
According to DPWH-Region VI (DPWH-6), the fund will cover 2,473 classrooms in the provinces of Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, and Iloilo.
Meanwhile, the Iloilo City District Engineering Office reports the largest allocation, amounting to P1.45 billion, will go to Iloilo, accounting for 789 classrooms throughout the province and 166 classrooms in Iloilo City.
DPWH is also implementing a P16.89 million school project, funded by Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) in Capiz./WDJ
