The Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Negros Island Region (DENR-NIR) ended their Month of the Ocean observance with a coastal clean-up and mural painting in Barangay Punta Taytay, yesterday.
“This Month of the Ocean culmination activity is a continued effort by the agency in expanding knowledge of the community on the issues the Philippine seas and the world’s oceans are facing today,” said Regional Director Livino Duran. “Climate change is upon us and it is our job as government officials and employees to educate the people and provide ways on how an ordinary citizen can help.”
Led by the Conservation and Development Division of the agency, around 50 DENR-NIR employees and 20 Barangay Punta Taytay residents and leaders joined the clean-up, which gathered about 10 sacks of non-biodegradable waste.
