Fédération Internationale des Échecs (FIDE) Master Sander Severino of Silay City and International Master (IM) Joel Pimentel of Bacolod City continue to share the lead in the ongoing 2017 Negros Closed Chess Tournament at the District North Point in Talisay City.
In their Round 6 games, Pimentel defeated Ellan Asuela, while Severino beat P03 Ernie Abanco.
In the final round, Pimentel takes on Abanco and Severino plays National Master (NM) Rolando Andador.
If still tied after the last round, the two will play a Best-of-5 series of games, with each face-off lasting 10 minutes.
The winner receives a prize of P15,000, trophy, medal, free registration to the Negros International Open Chess Championship, and a trip to either a European or Asian tournament next year./WDJ
