A member of the Citizen Armed Force Geographical Unit (CAFGU) allegedly opened fire and killed two barangay tanods in Barangay Canlusong, EB Magalona, Negros Occidental, late Monday evening.
Police identified the fatalities as 33-year-old Armando Labto, Jr., and Rogelio Bendol, 48, both residents of the said barangay.
EB Magalona municipal police chief, Police Senior Inspector Bonifacio Aral, said the victims tried to breakup a fight during a fiesta involving the suspect, identified as Renante Villarosa.
After the commotion, Villarosa allegedly went back to his army detachment in Barangay San Isidro and picked up his M14 service rifle, returned to the fiesta celebration, and opened fire at the two barangay tanods.
Police are still conducting a follow-up operation against Villarosa, who immediately fled after committing the crime./WDJ
