A 70-year-old woman was arrested by Dumaguete City police after she was caught engaging in illegal gambling in Barangay Looc, Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental, Sunday afternoon.
Police identified the suspect as Nicanora Sandoy, a resident of Oracion drive in the said barangay.
Dumaguete City police said intelligence operatives were in the area when they witnessed Sandoy allegedly tallying up three-digit number combinations for the illegal numbers game called “Swertres.”
Police recovered the tally sheet; suspected bet money, amounting to P250; two tip papers for the game; and an ID from the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) Small Town Lottery (STL).
Sandoy faces illegal gambling charges and is detained at the Dumaguete City Police Station./WDJ
