A motorcycle driver was killed, while his back rider was critically injured, after their vehicle slammed into a Ceres bus in Barangay Poblacion, Valladolid, Negros Occidental, yesterday morning.
Police identified the fatality as Jaynan Encila, a resident of Barangay Taculing, Bacolod City; while the injured was identified as Jefferson Liboon, a resident of La Castellana.
Valladolid town police chief, Police Senior Inspector Junjie Liba, said, based on eyewitness accounts, the Ceres bus stopped in front of a church while heading north, causing Encila’s motorcycle to ram into the left side of the vehicle.
Encila was killed on impact while Liboon was rushed to a hospital in the municipality, although he was later transferred to another medical facility in Bacolod City.
The bus driver, 29-year-old Remsy Panes, meanwhile surrendered to police, stating, he is prepared to face charges.
In an interview with Bombo Radyo-Bacolod, Panes also apologized to the families of the victims, but stressed he is not responsible for the accident./WDJ
