Suspected ‘akyat bahay’ member falls in Barangay 16

A suspected ‘akyat bahay’ member was nabbed by police, while two of his accomplices escaped, after victimizing a boarding house at Purok Dawidaw, Barangay 16, Bacolod City, late Wednesday evening.
Police identified the victims as 25-year-old Leslie Apuhin, a resident of the said barangay; and Rusty Mata, 27, a native of Barangay Nanunga, Hinigaran, Negros Occidental.
Based on investigations by Police Station 1 (PS1), the suspects, identified as Christian Dequiña, while the two others are not being named due to being minors, allegedly entered the boarding house by destroying a padlock.
Once inside, the suspects hurriedly took several items including clothes, electronic gadgets, mobile phones, bags, shoes, and ATM cards, with an overall value around P18,444.
However, as the suspects were about to leave, they were spotted by the victims, who immediately shouted for help from patrolling barangay tanods in the area.
A short chase ensued which later resulted to Dequiña’s arrest, while the two other suspects managed to elude capture.
Police also managed to recover all stolen items from the arrested suspect.
Dequiña faces burglary charges and is detained at PS1./WDJ
