Department of Agriculture Regional Director Joyce Wendam said the government will begin offering an affordable loan program for farmers and fisherfolk next month.
Dubbed as Production Loan Easy Access (PLEA), the program will launch on June 23 and will allow the farmers to borrow loans through conduit banks, with a minimum amount of P10,000 to a maximum of P50,000.
Wendam disclosed the information during the culminating ceremony for Farmers and Fisherfolks Month at the Bacolod Pavillon Hotel yesterday.
She said they would like to highlight rice is crucial and there is a current need to increase the rice productivity of the farmers in order for us to be self sufficient.
“If the production will increase the income of the farmers will increase too,” she stressed./WDJ
