Congressman Greg Gasataya Basketball League Villamonte, Singcang split finals series, force Game 3 decider

After Barangay Villamonte took Game 1 of the 1st Congressman Greg Gasataya Basketball League Best-of-3 finals series at the STI-West Negros University gym, defeating Barangay Singcang 110-100, the latter came back and took Game 2, 97-89, forcing a Game 3 decider.
Villamonte nearly locked away the series, after leading throughout most of the match, carrying a 55-50 lead up until the middle of the third period. However, Singcang roared back and went into the final period up, 72-66.
In the fourth quarter, the game tightened with Villamonte stealing back a one-point lead at one point, only to have a fast break by Renz Solomon to put Singcang back in the lead, 86-83, with under a minute to play.
Gee Adjie led the win with 20 points, followed by Solomon with 19, Alivin Jamora – 16, and Louie Badilles – 11.
Meanwhile, Sum-ag defeated Banago, 108-89, in the consolation game.
Game 3 is scheduled for Thursday, June 1./WDJ
