A six-year-old child drowned at a resort in Barangay Camindangan, Sipalay City, Thursday morning.
Local officials from the city’s disaster risk reduction and management office (CDRRMO) identified the victim as Jero Vermil, a resident of Barangay 5 in the said city.
In an interview with Bombo Radyo-Bacolod, Sipalay City CDRMMO Officer Severo Hablado said the victim’s parents did not notice Vermil jumped into the swimming pool.
Hablado said the resort did not have any lifeguard nor a first aid responder, and were not able to save the child.
Paramedics later arrived on the scene and rushed Vermil to the city’s health office, where he was later declared dead on arrival.
Hablado added, the resort itself has not yet officially opened as they are still processing the necessary permits in order to operate./WDJ
