Third district officials, ranging from barangay councilors to mayors, will be taking part in the 3rd Albee Cup Inter-LGU Sportsfest, which opens at 2:00 p.m. today, May 27, at the Natalio G. Velez Sports and Cultural Center in Silay City.
Close to a hundred local government officials of Victorias City, EB Magalona, Silay City, Talisay City, and Murcia will compete in a series of basketball and volleyball games across various venues up through June 26.
Event Coordinator and Tournament Director Roger Banzuela said events will include men’s basketball, divided into 39-and-below and 40-and-above categories; men’s volleyball; and women’s volleyball.
Negros Occidental 3rd District Rep Alfredo Benitez, the festival’s namesake, said the event is an opportunity to foster stronger camaraderie among public officials in the district and, at the same time, promote physical fitness and well-being./WDJ
