Former world champion Merlito ‘Tiger’ Sabillo, who was born in Toboso, will take on Indonesian fighter Jack Amisa this weekend, May 28, at 888 Chinatown Square Mall in Bacolod City for the vacant Asian Boxing Federation (ABF) light flyweight championship.
The fight will be a rematch as the two previously fought in November 2015 at the La Trinidad municipal gym in La Trinidad, Benguet. The Negrense boxer won via unanimous decision.
Both fighters have gone through their respective droughts, with Sabillo losing a series of Oriental Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) fights in Japan. Meanwhile, Amisa suffered a unanimous defeat last year to then newly-turned pro Vikash Dahiya of India, before he was knocked out by Thailand’s Prasitsak Phaprom in July.
Among the undercard fights, Alexander Almacen will face Ernesto Alera, Elmer Liboon meets Jay-R Raquenel, and Paolo Sy takes on Tomas Rebuset.
The fight is supervised by the Games and Amusement Board./WDJ
