A total P311,000 was awarded to Bacolod City athletes who earned medals at the most recent Palarong Pambansa during a ceremony at the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC), yesterday.
Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonadia, who led the distribution, addressed the gathered athletes and coaches.
“Thank you for giving honor to the region,” he said. “We may not have the quantity but we have the quality.”
Medalists received P5,000 for gold, P3,000 for silver, and P2,000 for bronze. Meanwhile the three winning coaches in the team events received P4,000 each.
The Bacolod City delegation garnered a total 23 gold, 38 silver, and 35 bronze medals.
Also present at the ceremony were City Councilors Caesar Distrito, Renecito Novero, Dindo Ramos, and Bartolome Orola; Executive Assistant Moises de la Cruz; and Music, Arts, Physical Education, and Health (MAPEH) Supervisor Eden Ariola, who represented Department of Education (DepEd) Schools Division Superintendent Cynthia Demavivas. /WDJ
