A teenager suffocated to death after he was trapped in a burning house at Block 1, Eufemia Subdivision, Barangay Taculing, Bacolod City, yesterday morning.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) identified the fatality as 18-year-old Mark Jason Hontiveros, a resident of the said barangay.
BFP arson investigator, Senior Fire Officer 2 (SFO2) Archie Espanio, said they received a fire call around 4:15 a.m. from a house owned by Theresa and Jerry Hontiveros.
Based on their initial investigation, the fire started inside one of the bedrooms, although they have yet to determine the cause.
The fire was immediately put under control following the arrival of the firefighters, with damages estimated around P100,000.
BFP is currently conducting an investigation into the incident./WDJ
