After power rates hit P11.1669 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) this past March, the Central Negros Electric Cooperative, Inc. (Ceneco) announced their second straight months of rate drops, with a May 2017 rate of P10.5062/kwh, down from the April 2017 figure of P10.8556/kWh.
The utility co-op credits the adjustment to drops in the generation charge, along with a decrease in transmission and system loss charges.
Back in March, Ceneco President Arnel Lapore revealed plans for a power rate rollback.
Prior to January 2017, rates were at P8.0756/kWh. However, before power rates went on the rise, Ceneco General Manager Sulpicio Lagarde, Jr. projected, “I don’t see any increase yet in the coming month.”/WDJ
