Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco) president Roy Cordova yesterday made public his compensation as head of the utility firm and stressed he made less than other employees.
According to several records released by Cordova yesterday afternoon, the president’s benefits and allowances total P20,350 a month. This includes P7,550 per meeting, P7,500 Monthly Representation Allowance, P1,500 cell card allowance, P1,800 Monthly Rice Allowance, P2,000 Monthly Communication and Information Dissemination Allowance, and 50 liters monthly gasoline allowance. He also receives P10,000 Annual Medical Allowance and P6,000 Annual Uniform Allowance.
Cordova said he released the records for the sake of transparency, though he stopped short of revealing the benefits and allowances of his fellow board members.
He also made public his Statement of Assets and Liabilities (SAL) from February of 2017, showing his total assets of P1,120,861.49 and liabilities at P148,032.96
The document lists his house and lot, car, appliances, furniture and fixtures, cash deposited in the bank, and investments in the Ceneco Employees Cooperative.
He assured the public that he will not enrich himself while in office.
Cordova was elected last May 9 as the new Ceneco President, replacing Atty. Arnel Lapore.
Cordova worked with Ceneco in 1982 as a meter reader. He was promoted to supervisor and served as president of the Ceneco Union of Rationale Employees for 15 years.
In 2011, he resigned from Ceneco and won as Director of District 4, beating former Ceneco President Edward Gasambelo.
Three years later he attempted a re-election bid but was disqualified under the new requirement set by the National Electrification Administration that a Director should be a degree holder.
That forced him to take Adult Education courses at the La Consolacion College where he finished his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 2016 at the age of 56./WDJ
