Suspected gunrunner nabbed in Villamonte

A suspected gunrunner was arrested at the entrance road going to the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC) in Barangay Villamonte last Monday evening.
Police identified the suspect as 27-year-old Eduardo Bascos Jr., a resident of East Homes 4, Barangay Mansilingan, of the said city.
He was arrested by joint elements of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) and Police Station 4 (PS4) led by CIDG provincial officer Police Chief Insp. Teodoro Santos Jr., and PS4 commander Police Senior Insp. Elmer Bonilla.
Bonilla said Bascos is neither connected nor an employee of the city hall. It just happened that the meeting place of the transaction of the operation was in the BCGC area at the time of the arrest.
Recovered was a .45 caliber pistol and an empty .45 caliber magazine.
Police said the suspect is now in the custody of the CIDG and is facing the charge of illegal possession of firearms./WDJ
