Asian Grains, Akasya post wins in Boston Finance Cup

Hard court actions continue at the STI-West Negros University gym with BAPRO-Asian Grains and Akasya securing victories in the ongoing D League-Boston Cup Basketball Tournament.
BAPRO-Asian Grains dominated FilSino-ESJ, 74-66, while Akasya ruled over Bacolod Basketball Club, 68-62.
Asian Grains kicked off with a huge 22-9 blast in the opening period behind Malvin Pineda’s 3 treys and Bon-Bon Maculada and Jun-Jun Romero’s 4 points each.
Ramon Ortigosa fired 8 points, including a pair of triples, to anchor FilSino’s 16-13 run, but Boy Gonzales shot 7 markers as Asian Grains pushed for a 35-25 lead at the break.
Miguel Saison poured 8 points in the third to extend Asian Grains’ advantage to 50-36 entering the playoff period.
Pineda and Romero shot 10 and 8 points, respectively, to keep FilSino at bay in the fourth period with Geraj Qui and Richard Uy having 9 and 7 points, respectively.
Pineda paced BAPRO-Asian Grains with 19 points; Romero added 12; Saison and Maculada – 8 apiece; and Gonzales and Allen Sanchez combined for 13 points.
Meanwhile, Qui spearheaded FilSino with 14 points; Uy, Otigosa, and Joseph Tiu added 11; and Bryan Solinap – 8.
On the other hand, Zoey Pandan scored 15 points, all in the third quarter, to pace Akasya’s run; Japhet Cua added 11; and Jyan Bascar and Christian Crisostomo – 7 each.
Jade Ayupan, meanwhile, fired 14 points to anchor BBC; Ronan Batralo added 11; Bourne Sioquim – 10; and Alan Jaena – 9./WDJ
