Close to 20 people were injured after a van slammed into two other vehicles along the national highway, part of Barangay Taloc, Bago City, yesterday morning.
In a report released by Bago City police traffic investigator, Police Officer 3 (PO3) Rowel Peniero, a Mitsubishi Montero driven by Ernie Torrechiva was traveling south when he stopped his vehicle, as another car was executing a left turn in the area.
However, a speeding van driven by 41-year-old Alan Cano accidentally sideswiped Peniero’s vehicle causing Cano to lose control of his vehicle.
Cano tried to apply his brake but it failed, and the van hit a passenger jeepney driven by Joemarie Maguyon, flipping the jeepney on its left side.
Around 20 passengers occupying the jeepney were rushed to the Bago City Hospital for treatment, while police detained Cano following the incident.
Police are currently awaiting the decision from the victims if they will file charges against the van driver./WDJ
