A jeepney driver was killed after he was allegedly stabbed to death by another driver at Bangga Metal, Barangay Alijis, Bacolod City, Saturday afternoon.
Police identified the fatality as 46-year-old Jonathan Bo-oc, with dual residencies in Barangay Cabug and Barangay Alijis, Bacolod City.
Police Station 7 (PS7) commander Police Chief Insp. Charles Gever said, while waiting for passengers to board his vehicle, a heated argument ensued between Bo-oc and the suspect identified as 46-year-old Edwin Halayahay.
Gever said the argument was allegedly due to competition over passengers.
He said the argument later escalated into a physical confrontation, in which Halayahay pulled out a nine-inch bladed weapon and stabbed Bo-oc in the left arm and abdomen.
Bo-oc was rushed by bystanders to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH), where he was later declared dead on arrival by medical staff.
Halayahay, meanwhile, was arrested a few hours later by PS7, and Gever said he is facing the charge of homicide./WDJ
