Bacolod City Lone District Representative Greg Gasataya said he had expected the appointment of Senator Alan Peter Cayetano as Secretary of Foreign Affairs.
President Rodrigo Duterte, explained the solon, has long been eyeing Cayetano as the senator could improve the Philippines’ relations with other countries.
He also believes Duterte made the right choice, saying Cayetano would be a good foreign affairs secretary having a good background with the law since he is a senator.
With a number of pressing international concerns that needs to be addressed, the appointment was timely, Gasataya added.
“With him at the helm of the foreign affairs department, I hope these problems will be solved,” he said.
