The Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco) has issued an apology via social media following a series of power interruptions in Bacolod City yesterday afternoon.
In a statement released on Facebook, the power cooperative explained several areas of the city experienced low voltage and power interruptions after the 167.4 Megawatt (MW) Panay Energy Development Corp. (PEDC) plant in Iloilo City made an emergency shutdown.
Ceneco said, however, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) managed to stabilize the power grid in the Visayas, and they are still evaluating the demand-supply of power due to the said shutdown.
They added the 135 MW Palm Concepcion Power Corp. (PCPC) power plant in Concepcion, Iloilo is also down due to equipment failure.
Ceneco announced the possibility of rotating brownouts if PEDC fails to restore operations in its plant./WDJ
