The top most wanted criminal in Negros Occidental, who allegedly raped the daughter of his lover, was tracked down and arrested in Rodriguez town, Rizal province.
Police identified the suspect as Dennis Reniel Batisla-ong, formerly a resident of Negros Occidental, who hid in Rizal province and evaded arrest for six years.
In a report by GMA News on Monday, Police Supt. Lawrence Cajipe, chief of the Anti-Organized Crime Unit (AOCU) of the Philippine National Police (PNP), said Batisla-ong’s name appeared on their list while they were trying to investigate an organized crime group in Rizal province. They then tracked him down following a two-week long surveillance operation.
Cajipe said the rape case was reported in 2011, in which Batisla-ong allegedly raped the daughter of his live-in partner seven times.
Batisla-ong then fled the province after the incident was reported to police and a warrant of arrest was issued by the Silay City Regional Trial Court.
Following his arrest, Batisla-ong denied the allegations and told GMA News that he wanted to talk to the victim’s mother to ask her to withdraw the case against him.
Meanwhile, Police Regional Office-18 (PRO-18) spokesperson, Police Senior Inspector Armilyn Vargas, said preparations are now being made for Batisla-ong’s return to the province.
Vargas said the suspect will be transferred to a district jail in Negros Occidental, while the court hears his case in Silay City./WDJ
