Director Roy Cordova of District 4 was elected Tuesday as the new President of the Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco) replacing Atty. Arnel Lapore.
The election of Cordova was made during the first Ceneco Board Meeting after its Annual General Assembly held April 30 at the Bacolod Tay Tung High School Gym.
Among the members of the Board who voted for Cordova were Directors Dwight Carbon who represents Murcia and Don Salvador Benedicto District, Joselito Gaston of Silay City District, Noel Alarcon of Talisay City District, and Cordova himself.
Only Director Robert Javellana of Bago City District voted to retain Lapore.
Directors Joyce Martha Cuenca of District 1 abstained while Director Jojit Yap of District 3 was absent.
Cordova worked with Ceneco in 1982 as a meter reader. He was promoted to supervisor and served as president of the Ceneco Union of Rationale Employees for 15 years.
In 2011, he resigned from Ceneco and won as Director of District 4, beating former Ceneco President Edward Gasambelo.
Three years later he attempted a re-election bid but was disqualified under the new requirement set by the National Electrification Administration that a Director should be a degree holder.
That forced him to take Adult Education courses at the La Consolacion College where he finished his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 2016 at the age of 56.
He was unopposed in the Ceneco District election in March this year.
Cordova assured transparency and a consultative leadership where he will be reaching out with consumer advocates under his administration./WDJ
