While the national government is waging a war against illegal drugs, the Ilongga who ranked fourth in the 2016 Bar Examinations will stay away from drug cases.
“We hear lawyers get killed in the crossfire. I don’t want to end my life and my career early,” said Allana Mae Babayen-on.
The law graduate of University of San Agustin (USA) in Iloilo City said she would rather focus her time on other cases.
“I just want to be part of the machinery that dispenses justice,” Allana said.
Allana, who currently works for the Iloilo Provincial Capitol, is surprised that she ranked fourth.
The 28-year-old from Banate town, Iloilo province, said plans of becoming a lawyer only came after years of juggling odd jobs in Manila.
“I was looking for my niche in this world,” Allana added.
When Allana went back home, she decided to pursue a law degree.
Meanwhile, Allana clarified she joined beauty contests only twice, once for a school-based occasion that gave her added points for grades.
“I’m not the type who joins beauty pageants,” Allana said./WDJ
