The City Health Office (CHO) warned Bacolod City residents of the rising number of rabies cases in the city.
CHO Assistant Health Officer, Dr. Jovy Vergara, said, while most animals being vaccinated for rabies are dogs, the virus can be carried by cats and other animals.
He suggested not to play with stray cats as there has been an increase of cases related to bites and scratches.
Vergara stated, if bitten by an animal, immediately proceed to the nearest health center or hospital to receive treatment.
He added most rabies-related fatalities are those who did not receive proper medical treatment./WDJ
