Bacolod City Councilor Ricardo Tan announced the Bacolod City Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) approved his proposed resolution requesting the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) hire more certified lifeguards.
These lifeguards will be deployed to public swimming establishments, including, but not limited to, seashores, beaches, creeks, and rivers, during weekends or during the feast of St. John the Baptist, on June 24.
Tan said his resolution is different from City Ordinance No. 749, the lifeguards for pools and resort ordinance, saying it only covers commercial resorts and pools and not government-owned places.
Earlier, Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia directed the CDRRMO to revisit CO749 after it was reported most resorts operating in Bacolod City do not have a lifeguard on duty./WDJ
