According to Mavil Majarucon-Sia, Commission on Elections (Comelec) official for Bacolod City, with today, April 29, being the last day to register for the next barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections, no extensions will be provided.
She explained registration has been open since November of last year and their office is complying with the schedule set by the Comelec central office in Manila.
Majarucon-Sia said there has been a decrease in registrations, which she attributes to the expected postponement of the upcoming election, which are scheduled for October 23.
However, despite the possibility of the elections not pushing through, she said the office is still preparing for the polls.
The local Comelec official added there are around 15,000 who applied for registration, which are scheduled for an Election Registration Board hearing next month.
The office will be taking registrations from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. today./WDJ
