The Negros Island Region (NIR) captured the gold medal in sepak takraw, through the Victorias National High School, at the ongoing 2017 Palarong Pambansa in Antique.
NIR defeated the Davao Region in the finals, 2-1.
Comprising the team were June Clyde Abellano, Edrhic Dave Balderas, John Erickson Balderas, Ricky Guarino, Christian Kyle Layson, and Ian Gerald Sudayan. Also suiting up for the squad were Kervy Jules Cayetano, Ralph Christian Enriquez, and Renz Jay Velasco of Murcia; and Paul John Embahador, John Paul Malubay, and Peter Paul Malubay of Bacolod City.
“It was a game of pure determination,” said Victorias National High School Principal, Dr. Cheryl Tondo. “Thank you to all who supported the team.”/WDJ
