A Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) enforcer, who reportedly jumped off a bridge along the boundary of Barangays Mansilingan and Alijis, may face suspension, after it was discovered he was allegedly drunk while on duty.
Police Superintendent Luisito Acebuche, head of BTAO, said 26-year-old Michael Biñas of Barangay Bata apparently fell off the bridge.
Acebuche explained, yesterday, he received additional information from the father of Biñas, who issued a statement in a radio interview, indicating his son was drunk and lost his footing.
Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia gave specific instructions not to allow enforcers to go on duty if they are under the influence of alcohol, the BTAO head stressed.
Acebuche said he will recommend suspension if the father’s statement is verified.
“Once suspended, there will be no appointments for him,” Acebuche said.
Biñas was brought to Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) for treatment due to the injuries he sustained on his right leg and on the forehead, but was later discharged by hospital staff./WDJ
