Silay City recently won the special event division, the senior category, of the 2017 Panaad Latin Dancesport Competition, an official event of the ongoing 2017 Panaad sa Negros Festival.
Anthony Arbolante and Leilani Azuro beat out Alvin Hablo and Reyma Barrios of Bacolod City, who took second place; and Darwin Encarguez and Kristal Mae Villaro of Cadiz City, who finished in third.
Silay City also took second place in the amateur category, with Joeval Salvador and Darlene Callas named runners-up behind Peejan Mark Ganarias and Krista Camille Camarines of Himamaylan City.
Meanwhile, Silay City also took second place in the juvenile category, with Khayaen Deocadiz and Alira Mae Tolentino finishing behind Kristoffer Andrei Barillas and Riyan Isabel Gargaritano of Bacolod City.
Participants performed samba, cha-cha, rumba, paso doble, and jive.
The winners were each awarded certificates, trophies, and cash prizes, and will perform during festival closing ceremonies on Sunday, April 30./WDJ
