The Bacolod City Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) yesterday approved a resolution requesting Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia to provide financial awards for Bacolod City athletes who earn medals in the ongoing 2017 Palarong Pambansa in Antique.
The resolution, penned by City Councilor Caesar Distrito, who previously authored a resolution requesting awards for local medalists in the earlier 2017 Palarong NIR, said the award would be “a way of appreciating their efforts.”
The city has already provided P3.5 million in allowances, supporting a total of 337 athletes, the largest contingent of the Negros Island Region (NIR) delegation.
Much like the earlier resolution, there was no indication of how much would be provided for each athlete, nor where the funding for the reward would be sourced from./WDJ
