A tricycle driver was arrested by police after he allegedly raped an 11-year-old girl in Barangay Mandalagan, Bacolod City.
Police refused to divulge the identity of the girl, but confirmed she is a resident of the said city.
Police Station 3 (PS3) Women and Children’s Protection Desk (WCPD) identified the suspect as 44-year-old Ronnie Peñalosa, who was arrested after he was positively identified by the victim.
In a radio interview following his arrest, Peñalosa admitted to the crime, claiming he lost control of himself and was tempted to rape the victim after she refused to get out of the tricycle.
The tricycle driver revealed he has five children and his wife is currently working abroad.
Peñalosa faces rape charges, and is currently detained at PS3.
The victim, meanwhile, is scheduled to undergo a medical examination to determine if she was indeed raped by the suspect./WDJ
