Construction on the 21-kilometer New Bacolod Economic Highway began with a groundbreaking ceremony at Purok Progreso, Barangay Sum-ag, yesterday. Construction on the 21-kilometer New Bacolod Economic Highway began with a groundbreaking ceremony at Purok Progreso, Barangay Sum-ag, yesterday.
According to Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia, the P4.8 billion project, upon completion, will be known as the “Bacolod Marathon.”
According to City’s District Engineering Office Public Information Officer, Assistant District Engineer Leah Jamero, the project is expected to run until 2021.
P300 million has already been invested in the first phase, set for completion by February 2018.
Meanwhile, Bacolod Lone District Rep. Greg Gasataya said he hopes the project will be completed in three years./WDJ
