The Bacolod City Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) approved a resolution, yesterday, supporting the move by the Department of Health (DOH) declaring April as Cancer in Children Awareness Month in order to bring public awareness on pediatric cancer.
The resolution, authored by City Councilor Sonya Verdeflor, stated “childhood cancer affects children from birth to 19 years old” and that “cancer is already in its advanced stage by the time it is diagnosed.”
“The most common pediatric cancer is acute lymphoblastic leukemia,” the resolution noted./WDJ
