In response to a resolution passed by the Bacolod City Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP), the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will conduct an investigation into the Magsungay and Lupit River Flood Control project, which is said to be incomplete.
According to the resolution, authored by City Councilor Caesar Distrito, the flood control wall is only on one side of the river.
It went on to explain, a portion of the Lupit River is located between Barangay 35 and Magsungay (Barangay Singcang-Airport) and, as observed, only the side of the river along the former has a protection wall, and when waters from the mountain flow down, the latter is flooded and nearby residents can be severely affected.
Through a memorandum, DSWD Undersecretary for Regional Operations in Visayas and Mindanao Rafael Yabut directed DPWH-Negros Island Region OIC Lea Delfinado to conduct an investigation./WDJ
